St. Edward the Confessor Brotherton

Church Street, Brotherton, North Yorkshire

The present church of St. Edward the Confessor was built in 1840-2 to the designs of James Pigott Pritchett, replacing a former church on the site. The Ramsden family memorials were translated into the north-east chapel of the new building.

In January 1842, tenders were invited for undertaking the rebuilding work in an advertisement in the Leeds Mercury newspaper. Plans were available for interested contractors in the Brotherton vicarage. The deadline for tenders was Monday 7th February.
